This past weekend, I was booked to capture family portraits at the Dunwoody Nature Center. What should have been a rainy day in north Atlanta, actually turned out to be a nice sunny day with several clouds in the sky. I was fine with the clouds as I knew it would provide a blanket of diffused light it illuminate my backgrounds.
The Dunwoody Nature Center is a perfect for portraits. With easy access parking, paved and wooden walkways, it's ideal for staging lighting equipment or posing a large family of 5 to 10 people. Personally, I have been booked to capture portraits 3 times at this location. Each time, it has been easy to navigate with little to no walking traffic.
This particular shoot featured individual portraits, group shots and candid photos. My goal was to use as much of the location as creatively possible. During this shoot however, I missed the opportunity to shoot buy the river as it was a bit too slippery to ensure my client's safety. Even without the river, I was able to use a variety of backdrops and scenes.
Overall, I enjoyed working with this particular family. It has been almost 3 years since I met them and I am beyond grateful to capture their milestone moments. Seeing the growth and being apart of the life of others, is one of the many perks of being a Family Portrait Photographer.
